Texas A&M Women's Tennis Defeats No. 1 Georgia to claim fourth straight SEC title

The Texas A&M Women's Tennis team continues to dominate the SEC, securing their fourth straight regular season conference title with a thrilling 4-3 victory over No. 1 Georgia on Sunday. The Aggies showcased resilience and determination, overcoming the loss of the doubles point to deliver an unforgettable performance at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Despite trailing 1-3, top-ranked Mary Stoiana ignited the comeback on Court 1, narrowing the gap with a crucial singles win. Mia Kupres followed suit, battling back after dropping her first set to tie the match at 3-3. The spotlight then shifted to sophomore sensation Lucciana Perez on Court 3. Perez displayed incredible mental toughness, clinching the decisive third set with a 4-2 victory to secure the SEC regular season title and extend the Aggies' remarkable home winning streak to 68 matches.

Coach Weaver praised Perez's clutch performance and how his team battled back for the win.

"….She's so tough and has the heart of a champion. She did such a great job of bouncing back and staying in the moment to find a way to get across the finish line. There's a lot of pressure on everyone out there because this is about the biggest stage you have to perform on, but all the credit to Lucciana for getting us to the four points out there."

"When we got down 3-1, you could see a formula for us getting those last three matches. All the girls really stepped up on the biggest stage. They showed incredible fight and incredible composure, something we have spoken a lot about with the team in recent weeks. I think we dug deep and really handled ourselves well in some tough situations."

Up next for No. 1 seeded A&M is the SEC tournament on Friday, April 18, at 6 p.m. CT. at Auburn University.
