Scottie Scheffler reaches 100 consecutive weeks as No. 1 in Official World Golf Ranking
Scottie Scheffler made some Official World Golf Ranking history Monday.
The 28-year-old will spend his 100th consecutive week as the No. 1 golfer in the world, which is only the second time a player has been on top of the rankings that long. Only Tiger Woods spent more consecutive weeks as world No. 1, once for 281 weeks and another stretch that lasted 264 weeks.
Scheffler moved to No. 1 on May 23, 2023, and has remained there since. Although Rory McIlroy has closed the gap, Scheffler's insane 2024 season, where he accumulated nine OWGR victories, will keep him on top for some time.
Another milestone Scheffler passed Tuesday was only two golfers have now been No. 1 for more cumulative weeks: Woods and Greg Norman. Scheffler was tied with Dustin Johnson at 135 weeks as world No. 1, but Scheffler moved to 136 weeks on Monday morning.
Scheffler finished in a tie for eighth at the RBC Heritage, a tournament he won in 2024. The next time he'll tee it up will be at his hometown event, the CJ Cup Byron Nelson at TPC Craig Ranch, May 1-4.
Scheffler didn't play the Byron Nelson last year because he and wife Meredith welcomed son Bennett to the world that week.
