Charlie Woods once again rose the leaderboard on the third day of the Junior Invitational at Sage Valley in South Carolina.
Woods, the son of legendary golfer Tiger Woods, and Kai Trump, the granddaughter of U.S. President Donald J. Trump, are competing in a tournament billed as "the most prestigious event in junior golf" this week.
How did Charlie Woods fare in third round?
Woods was up-and-down en route to a 73 (1-over). He birdied two of his first three holes and four overall, but offset those with three bogeys and a double bogey.
He closed the round 8-over for the tournament and rose to 25th in a field of 36 golfers.
Woods played on Benjamin's No. 2 line last fall and finished his sophomore campaign as the No. 11 boys golfer in Florida per iWanamaker. In 2023, Woods was part of Benjamin boys golf's state championship team.
How did Kai Trump fare in third round?
Trump shot 83 (11-over) in the third round, carding eight bogeys and two double bogeys to go with a round-ending birdie. She is in last place in a field of 24 golfers at 35-over for the tournament.
Trump was an All-County selection for Benjamin last fall and finished her junior campaign as the No. 151 ranked girls golfer in Florida. She is committed to play collegiate golf at the University of Miami.
Canadian Aphrodite Deng leads the girls competition by four strokes after shooting a 6-under third round and moving to 8-under overall for the tournament.
The Junior Invitational at Sage Valley held its first tournament in 2011 and has quickly become a destination event for junior golf's top names from around the globe. It crowned its first girls champion in 2022.
Past winners include current professional golf stars like Scottie Scheffler, Akshay Bhatia and Joaquín Niemann.
