Estero golfer Gianna Clemente to play for third time at Augusta National Women's Amateur

Estero golfer Gianna Clemente, the 2024 American Junior Golf Association's female player of the year, will play at next month's Augusta National Women's Amateur. It will be her third consecutive appearance at the event.

Clemente had a dominant showing last year, highlighted by a fifth-place finish at the ANWA, her fifth career AJGA victory at the Mizuho Americas Open and helping the U.S. team earn a historic victory over the European squad at the Junior Solheim Cup.

When is the Augusta National Women's Amateur?

The sixth Augusta National Women's Amateur is set for April 2-5. The tournament debuted in 2019 with the 2020 championship canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

An international field of 72 women amateurs will compete, including all top-50 eligible players from the final 2024 World Amateur Golf Rankings and three of the past four champions.

What is the format of the Augusta National Women's Amateur?

The 54-hole stroke play tournament begins with two competition rounds at the Champions Retreat Golf Club in Augusta, Ga. On Friday, April 4, the entire field will play a practice round at Augusta National, home of the Masters Tournament. The top 30 players (and ties) after the first two rounds will then compete in the final at Augusta National on Saturday, April 5.

How can I watch the Augusta National Women's Amateur?

Golf Channel will broadcast the first and second rounds live from 1:30-3:30 p.m. on April 2-3. NBC Sports will provide live coverage of the final round from noon-3 p.m. on April 5.

How did Gianna Clemente finish at the Augusta National Women's Amateur?

In her first ANWA in 2023, Clemente shot 3-over the tournament, which placed her 14th, 12 strokes behind champion Rose Zhang.

Last year, Clemente was in second place after the first two rounds, two shots behind England's Lottie Woad, who plays at Florida State. In the final round, Clemente shot a 1-over 73 at Augusta National to end up fifth, six shots shy of Woad. Currently the top-ranked amateur in the world, Woad will be back to defend her ANWA title in 2025.
