‘Borz’ Accepts Fight Against Top Middleweight Contender

International Fight Week may have secured its main event.

This weekend, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fans were hit with the horrible news that Middleweight champion Dricus Du Plessis is currently injured and will not be able to compete against Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 317 later this summer as part of 2025 International Fight Week.

Despite this setback, Chimaev could still headline the card.

That's because No. 6 ranked Brazilian Middleweight, Caio Borralho, revealed on social media today (Sun., April 20, 2025) that “Borz” has accepted to fight him.

“I know a guy @ufc, you know who to call,” Borralho tweeted earlier this morning.

“Khamzat said yes!” Borralho wrote a few hours later. “The only thing that makes sense is the Interim belt! This fight is gonna be bigger than him vs Dricus! Marks my words.”

Fans should take this with a grain of salt, as fighters can sometimes be unreliable, claiming involvement in potential matchups without official confirmation from the promotion.

Additionally, Borralho is clearly behind Nassourdine Imavov in the Middleweight pecking order; however, the Brazilian insists Imavov is out of contention after declining a fight with him.

The final puzzling aspect of this potential matchup is the interim title. Du Plessis fought just two months ago at UFC 312, so introducing an interim belt could be seen as disrespectful to the champion. However, UFC has done this before, and if “Stillknocks” is sidelined for an extended period, the show must go on.
