Rousseau shares medalist honors, Phoenix take 2nd at Missouri Baptist Spring Invitational
ALTON, Ill. — Bailey Rosseau shared medalist honors Tuesday as Cumberland slid one spot on day two to finish second at the Missouri Baptist Spring Invitational at Spencer T. Olin Golf Course.
Bethel won the tournament after shooting a 305 on day two to beat the Phoenix by seven strokes with a total of 605. Cumberland came into the day with a five-shot lead, but struggled shooting a 317 to fall in the standing.
Rousseau finished in a tie for first place after shooting a three-over 75 in his final round. He carded two birdies on No. 1 and No. 18 with three bogeys and one double to round out his tournament with 148 strokes.
Josh Taylor and Kalle Marttinen finished in the Top 10 at seventh and eighth place. Taylor shot a 79 with one birdie to finish at 154 strokes. Marttinen came into today as the leader, but slid down to an eighth place finish after shooting an 83 to finish with 155 strokes.
Patrick Chesnut shot an 80 in his final round to total 157 strokes and finish tied for 12th place. Joel Berry ended tied for 15th at 158 strokes after finishing with an 83.
The Phoenix will now prepare for the Mid-South Conference Championship on April 28-29 at Bowling Green (Ky.) Country Club.
